It’s good to find a podcast that’s a little outside the box. Now what better medium to learn a different language than podcasts. That’s exactly what the Cannes born S�bastien thought and so FrenchPodClass was born.

Where this podcast differs from traditional language tutorials, is that our host is not a teacher, well not yet anyway as he does intend on becoming a kindergarten teacher. He’s just a man that was looking for a Spanish tutorial, found none and then thought, hey why don’t I create one for French? As S�bastien says “This podcast started because I was looking to improve my Spanish, and was looking for some class or else that was available in iTunes. By curiosity I looked to see if there were any in French. As you know, there were none.

That is when I decided to make one myself. I am not a teacher but I like to share my knowledge and experiences with people. I assumed that there would be at least 1 or 2 people that would be interested.”

As well as the usual audio lessons, the podcast also gives you accompanying documents, like review sheets, a chapter by chapter, paragraph by paragraph translation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm and also some videos.

The podcasts themselves are very well done. It’s not all work, work, work. There’s introductions to books and music, which breaks things up nicely. I’ve only scratched the surface of this Podcast. I’ve listened to #1 so far and just dabbled into a few of the other ones. I just hope I can be disciplined and systematically work my way through them all.

Conclusion : This really is an excellent podcast and one that is a valuable resource for anyone wanting to learn the French language.
